About

I’m fascinated by the people of the past. As a famous scholar observed, “The past was a different place. People behaved differently then.” My experiences living in Germany as a high school and undergraduate student fostered this love of learning about how other people live, think, and feel. I pursue this interest through voracious reading, travel, and teaching. My specialization is in nineteenth- and twentieth German-speaking Europe. I’m currently an associate professor at Eureka College in Illinois.

My other interests include ballet, yoga, cooking, eating, and playing with my dog.
